2008 ABS NSW Training Program

2008 ABS NSW STATISTICAL TRAINING PROGRAM

ABS NSW is offering a wide variety of high quality courses throughout 2008. Limited places are still available for all courses listed below.

Making Quality Informed Decisions

Making Quality Informed Decisions is a popular ABS course running on 26 March. This course will increase participants' skills and understanding on:
  • how to set up a quality framework
  • risk management in making statistical decisions
  • how to assess datasets in the context of data needs
  • using information on data quality to make better informed decisions.

The course is useful for anyone who uses statistics in decision making, or is involved in producing statistics and wants to ensure that statistics are used appropriately.

Turning Data Into Information

Another popular ABS course is Turning Data Into Information on 16-17 April. The course develops skills in interpreting and analysing data and communicating information clearly and effectively. On completion of the course participants will be able to more confidently and accurately:
  • understand how the collection and compilation of data affects their usefulness, quality and relevance
  • communicate results and prepare written reports
  • construct appropriate tables and graphs
  • recognise possible data analysis pitfalls.

This an informative course for people who need to draw conclusions based on data and present them to a variety of audiences.

ABS Website Seminar

A complimentary ABS Website Seminar will be held at the NSW Office of the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday 23 April 2008. This seminar will increase participants' ability to access ABS online publications and free data from the ABS website, and will be suitable for both new and existing ABS Website users. Please forward this invitation to your staff and others in your organisation who may also be interested in attending.
