GEOGRAPHY

Information is available for Australia, all states and territories and geographical regions (capital city, other metropolitan, rural and remote). For some data, other geographical levels may be available, depending on confidentiality.

METHOD OF COLLECTION

NCVER maintains a database of information on persons undertaking vocational and personal enrichment training. Each
Sstate and territory collates data from their training providers on a student, course and module basis. This data is compiled into the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) format and validated by each training organisation before being submitted to NCVER. The data is then further validated and quality checked for inconsistencies before it is used for the production of national and state/territory reports.

TIMING OF COLLECTION

Reference Period

Calendar year. This information is made available to the NCVER in April and is available to the public in July of each year following the year of enrolment.

Frequency of Collection

Annual.

Historical Data

This information has been available since 1994. The collection was previously known as Adult and Community Education Statistics, published in
Selected Vocational Education and Training Statistics. Until 2000, these statistics were published in Australian Personal Enrichment Education and Training Programs Statistics: An Overview. Data is now available on request.
