PERSONAL INTERNET USE Personal internet use, 2006-07 to 2010-11 Personal internet use by selected characteristics By State or Territory of usual residence, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) recorded the highest proportion of residents accessing the internet (89%) for 2010-11. Personal internet use(a), by State or Territory, 2010-11 Persons aged 18-24 years had the highest proportion (96%) of individuals accessing the internet. The 55-64 year age group showed the largest increase in the proportion of people accessing the internet, up from 63% in 2008-09 to 71% in 2010-11. Personal internet use, by age group, 2010-11 Internet use was more common for individuals from households with higher incomes. The proportion of individuals from the highest quintile of equivalised household income who accessed the internet was 94%, compared with 59% for people from the lowest quintile. In 2010-11, 95% of people with a Bachelor degree or above accessed the internet. Personal internet use, by educational attainment level, 2010-11 Personal internet use by location of access Home was the most popular location of internet use. Of the persons who had accessed the internet in the previous 12 months, 95% did so at Home.
