The weighted average of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Hobart for 2005-06 was 151.8, a 3.2% increase on the 2004-05 average of 147.1.

From 2004-05 to 2005-06, the weighted average increased for all major commodity groups, with the exception of communication (-1.4%). The largest increases were recorded in transportation (5.6%), health (4.6%), housing (4.2%), food (4.0%) and education (3.7%).
