PURCHASING OF GOODS AND SERVICES OVER THE INTERNET Use of the internet to purchase or order goods or services(a)(b), 2006-07 to 2010-11 Of the people who had made a purchase over the internet, 74% purchased Travel, accommodation, memberships or tickets of some kind. The next most common types of goods or services purchased over the internet were CDs, music, DVDs, videos, books or magazines (45%) and Clothes, cosmetics or jewellery (34%). Selected types of goods or services purchased or ordered over the internet(a)(b)(c), 2010-11 Main reasons for not purchasing goods or services over the internet In 2010-11, 32% of internet users did not make any internet purchases in the previous 12 months. The top three main reasons for not purchasing or ordering over the internet were: Have no need (39%); Prefer to shop in person/ like to see the product (21%); and Security concerns/concern about providing credit card details online (16%).
