Purpose
To provide data about mineral exploration drilling methods in Australia.

Description
An annual survey of all private sector companies with licences to explore in Australia and a minimum exploration expenditure of $20,000 per annum. In the 1999-2000 survey 541 companies were surveyed.

Data were collected by mail questionnaire.

Main data detail

  • expenditure on mineral exploration by drilling method, state and the Northern Territory; and
  • metres drilled during mineral exploration by drilling method, state and the Northern Territory.

Geographic coverage
Australia, states and the Northern Territory.

Frequency of data availability
Annual from 1994-95 to 1999-2000. This collection ceased following the 1999-2000 cycle.

Reference period
Year ended 30 June.
