This group covers R&D directed towards improving the characteristics and growing of crops principally intended for industrial applications such as sugar cane, cotton, wine grapes, tobacco, and plants from which essential oils are extracted.
This group has seven objectives:

820301 Cotton
820302 Essential Oil Crops (e.g. Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint, Boronia, Sandalwood)
820303 Plant Extract Crops (e.g. Pyrethrum, Jojoba)
820304 Sugar
820305 Tobacco
820306 Wine Grapes
820399 Industrial Crops not elsewhere classified

Exclusions:
a) Table grapes are included in Group 8202 Horticultural Crops.
b) Harvesting and packing of unprocessed industrial crops is included in Group 8206 Harvesting and Packing of Plant Products.
c) Management of environmental impacts from production of industrial crops is included in Group 8298 Environmentally Sustainable Plant Production.
d) Manufacture of processed products from these plants is included in Division 86 Manufacturing.
e) Operation of irrigation systems is included in Group 9004 Water and Waste Services.
