WESTERN AUSTRALIA

In 2012, there were 53 victims of homicide recorded in Western Australia, of whom 62% were male.

Victims of murder contributed to 60% (32) of total homicide victims, with over half (57%) of all murders occurring at a residential location. A knife was the most common weapon that was used (29%).

There were 1,774 victims of sexual assault in Western Australia in 2012. More than four in five victims of sexual assault were female (84% or 1,493 victims). Victimisation occurred at a residential location in 72% (1,263) of cases.

In 2012, there were 36,388 victims of unlawful entry with intent recorded in Western Australia. In 70% (25,798) of cases, property was taken from the victim.
