APPENDIX 2: Key changes to output tables
The key changes to the tables in the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position, Australia (cat. no. 5302.0) publication are summarised below:
Table 1: Balance of Payments, Summary, Original
- rename Income to Primary income
- rename Current transfers to Secondary income
- rename Acquisition/disposal of non-produced, non-financial assets to Gross acquisitions / disposals of non-produced non-financial assets and make the first item in the Capital account.
Table 5: Current Account Transactions: Seasonally Adjusted and Trend Estimates
- Goods credits
- Non-rural goods will include Goods procured in ports by carriers
- the Other goods will be removed but Non-monetary gold will be included
- Net exports of goods under merchanting will be added
- Goods debits
- the Intermediate and other merchandise goods will include Goods procured in ports by carriers
- the Other goods will be removed but Non-monetary gold will be included
- rename Income to Primary income
- rename Current transfers to Secondary income.
Table 7 - Goods credits, Original

- Postal and courier services will be added as a separate item under Transport services. To protect confidentiality while maximising the detail available on a BPM6 basis, Postal and courier services will be merged with indirect commissions for sea transport
- Estimates for operational leasing credits will be removed from Other transport and included in Other business services, Operational leasing
- Audiovisual services n.i.e. which was included in Other personal, cultural and recreational services will be included in Audiovisual and related services
- The ordering and labels of a number of items will change.

- replace Workers' remittances with Personal transfers
- Workers' remittances becomes a supplementary item but it will be the same value as Personal transfers as it is the only item measured. Credits to be recorded as 'n.a.' and a new model will be introduced for debits
- rename Non-life insurance transfers to Non-life insurance premiums and claims
- rename Other transfers to Other current transfers and will continue to be split between Non-life insurance premiums and claims and Other with no other supplementary items shown.

- rename Acquisition/disposal of non-produced, non-financial assets to Gross acquisitions / disposals of non-produced non-financial assets and made this the first item.
- General government credits and debits will be split between Debt forgiveness and Other capital transfers. Debt forgiveness credits will be a nil
- Migrants' transfers will be removed and recorded as other volume changes in the International investment position
- Capital transfers for other sectors will continue to be split between Debt forgiveness and Other capital transfers.
