LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH



Over the past 10 years, life expectancy at birth has improved by 2.7 years for males and just under 1.8 years for females. Based on current mortality rates, a boy born in 2009-2011 can expect to live 79.7 years, while a girl can expect to live 84.2 years (see graph 1.6).
