Purpose of the classification

This classification is used in the compilation and presentation of international investment statistics. It identifies enterprises, resident in Australia, receiving direct investment from residents in another economy.

Structure of the classification

The structure of the classification is:
1Direct Investment Enterprise
2Other

The Majority Owned Affiliates (MOA) classification is subsidiary to the Direct Investment Enterprise/Other Enterprise Classification. The MOA classification is used to divide direct investment enterprises into the following two subsectors:
1Majority owned direct investment enterprise
2Other direct investment enterprise
