NON-SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS IN QUEENSLAND

  • In 2011, the regions with the highest rates of attainment of non-school qualifications were all in or near the greater capital city of Brisbane.
  • Brisbane - West (63.9%) and Brisbane Inner City (63.1%) had the highest rates of attainment of non-school qualifications in Queensland.
  • The regions with the lowest rates of attainment of non-school qualifications tended to be in rural and remote regions of the state. Queensland - Outback (34.8%) had the lowest rate of attainment of non-school qualifications in Queensland, followed by Darling Downs - Maranoa (37.6%).
  • In 2011, 47.6% of 20-64 year olds in Queensland had a non-school qualification.

FIELD OF NON-SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS

MANAGEMENT AND COMMERCE
  • In 2011, non-school qualifications in management and commerce were more common in and around Brisbane than in other regions of Queensland.
  • Brisbane Inner City (15.3%), Brisbane - West (13.9%) and Brisbane - South (13.6%) had the highest proportion of people with their highest non-school qualifications in management and commerce of all regions in Queensland.
  • In Queensland, 9.0% of non-school qualifications were in this field.

ENGINEERING AND RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
  • Mackay (14.8%), Fitzroy (13.0%) and Townsville (10.9%) had the largest proportions of people with non-school qualifications in engineering and related technologies of all regions in Queensland.
  • In Queensland, 9.4% of non-school qualifications were in this field.
