The ABS is in the process of transitioning it's release of data from the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) to the newly developed Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). To enable past and future small area statistics to be compared it will be necessary to convert data from ASGC geographic areas to the new ASGS geographic areas. This Information Paper will describe the options for converting data to the ASGS as well as discussing some of the issues involved with doing this.
