What can I purchase from the Australian Bureau of Statistics
Most of the information on the ABS website is available free of charge. Some products and services may be purchased by contacting the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Products and services for purchase include:
- Items on the Printed Publications List
- Information consultancy services
- Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFs)
- Selected Census products - 2006 Datapacks, Census Sample file, TableBuilder
How do I purchase an ABS publication?
Orders for ABS publications can be made by phone, fax, email or mail. The latest issue available will be supplied. Prices include postage, handling and GST for orders sent within Australia. Postal charges apply for hard copy publications and products sent outside Australia. You will be advised of the costs before your order is processed; charges vary depending on the destination and the weight.
1. Order by phone
Customers in Australia:

Customers outside Australia:
Telephone + 61 2 9268 4909 between 9:00am and 5:00pm (Sydney Time).
Please have the following information ready when you call:
a. Product details
- ABS Catalogue number
- title
- issue
- number of copies required
b. Credit card details
c. Delivery address
2. Fax your order

3. Email your order
You can order by sending an email to client.services@abs.gov.au
Please include the following information in your email:
a. Contact details
- full name
- telephone number
b. Product details
- ABS Catalogue number
- title
- issue
- number of copies required
c. Delivery address
Payment - an ABS officer will contact you, using the details provided, to obtain your credit card details. Do not email your credit card details.
4. Mail your order
Please print out the following ABS Publication Order Form

then post the completed form with payment (either cheque or money order in Australian dollars (AUD) made payable to the Australian Bureau of Statistics) to:

What credit cards are accepted?
VISA, Mastercard and American Express (AMEX) are accepted.
Diners Club and JCB are not accepted.
How will my personal information be used?
The ABS collects the some personal information as part of the purchasing process. The following information is collected and used only to complete the purchase:
- Your name and delivery address details are used for the tax invoice and postal delivery of the product
- Credit card details are used to process the purchase transaction with the bank (only the card number and expiry date required)
- Telephone number and email address details may be requested to allow contact if an issue arises with the purchase
How long do I wait for a postal delivery?
If you purchased an ABS product and have not received it within 10 working days, contact the ABS, please have your receipt number available.
Can I return a product and get a refund?

What should I do if I am overcharged for a purchase?
If you have been overcharged, contact the ABS, please have your receipt number available.
