AUSTRALIAN CENSUS ANALYTIC PROGRAM

Counting the Homeless, 2001 (cat. no. 2050.0) was released in November 2003, and a corrigendum was released in December. The publication contains findings of the first of eight research projects recently undertaken within the Australian Census Analytic Program (ACAP). ACAP is a collaborative venture, between the ABS and several of Australia's leading academics and social science researchers, that is geared toward practical policy development. It aims to demonstrate the power of Census data to significantly increase understanding of Australia's social, cultural and economic environment. Findings of the remaining seven research projects will be released over the coming six months. For further information, use the 'Census Update' link on the Census Theme Page of the ABS web site.
